CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Two people were arrested in connection with a drive-by shooting that occurred Monday afternoon on Northridge Dr. in Clarksville.

According to a news release, the victim told police he was standing outside near a garage around 4:32 p.m. when a man he knew as “TJ” and a juvenile suspect drove by and shot him. The victim was taken to Gateway Medical Center for non life-threatening injuries.

Multiple witnesses at the scene confirmed that the suspects named were responsible for the shooting. The witnesses stated that the victim yelled, “You won’t fight me one on one with your hands,” and the suspects stopped their vehicle and opened their doors as if they were going to exit, but then closed the doors.

The suspect known as “TJ” allegedly fired a shot into the air from the passenger side and then drove away. However, witnesses gave conflicting statements about which suspect was the shooter but all agreed the shot came from the passenger side of the vehicle.

Thanks to information from witnesses, law enforcement from the Clarksville Police Department and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office were able to apprehend both suspects and locate the weapon a few hours after the shooting occurred.

18-year-old Taylor (TJ) Roderick and the juvenile suspect were both charged with aggravated assault.

Police have determined that the victim and suspects know each other, and the shooting was not random.
