CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Clarksville-Montgomery County Community Health Foundation Executive Director Rosalind Kurita addressed the County Commission on Monday night on the 230 acres of land donated to the county for a future Matlock Park and greenway expansion.
“I’m here tonight to ask you to approve the 230 acres of beautiful land, that includes a lake and river frontage,” Kurita told the commissioners. “This is the largest gift that our foundation has ever undertaken, and it is dedicated entirely to creating a new public park.”

Kurita recognized each Health Foundation board member in attendance, including County Mayor Wes Golden, City Mayor Joe Pitts and Board Chairman Mark Holleman. “They are the people responsible for this gift,” she said.

“As a closing remark, I want you to know that there is a singular goal for the Community Health Foundation. What we try to do is to improve the health of our community. And that includes our surrounding contiguous counties, as well as the families at Fort Campbell.
“We know that providing an opportunity for physical, outdoor recreational opportunities for families and family-centered activities, all of these (things), they offer us an opportunity to improve lives both mentally and physically,” Kurita said. “We are trusting the Montgomery County Government to take charge of this, and you will approve it, and it will become something that will last for our children, our grandchildren and generations yet to come. I thank you.”
The room erupted with applause following Kurita’s presentation. The commission will meet Monday, Nov. 9, when they are expected to approve the 230 acres of donated land.
