MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Tenn. – Two men were arrested Monday in connection with the burglary of construction equipment located at the future site of Rich Ellen Park.

Jessie Whitworth and Adrian Reynolds were each charged and booked into the Montgomery County Jail on one count of Felony Theft. Whitworth’s bond was set at $5,000 and Reynolds at $10,000 dollars.

Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Deputies and Investigator Steve Heise responded to Montgomery County’s the site, located on Hwy 149, Monday in reference to a theft.

Jones Bros. Inc., a company working at the site, reported that over the weekend, 22 batteries valued at nearly $5,000.00 dollars were stolen from multiple vehicles and heavy duty construction equipment that were parked at the construction site.

Shortly after 3 p.m. on Monday, Investigator Heise received a phone call from Lawrence Mize at Heimansohn Steel & Savage, located on Gatlin St. Mize advised that he had two individuals at his location trying to sell the stolen batteries and that they would try and stall them. Investigator Heise and Investigator Morlock responded to Heimansohns and were able to take both individuals into custody and recover all the stolen batteries.

“We would like to thank Curt Mize and his business employees for quickly notifying law enforcement and safely stalling both suspects till the Investigators could arrive,” said Heise.

“I give all of the credit on this arrest to Investigator Steve Heise,” said Sheriff John Fuson. “From the time that I gave Steve this assignment yesterday morning up to the time of the arrest, he worked very hard and the end result proves that. We are proud of him and the hard work that he puts in every day.”

“Let this incident be a reminder to anyone who chooses to steal someone else’s property. Although you may be able to get away from the scene, we will find you and bring you to jail.”
