CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Fall break is over, which means the high school football bye week is too. Ten area teams return to action this week, with a region title game and playoff implications scattered across the slate. For the first time this season, Montgomery Central will headline the Game of the Week.

Can the Indians earn a home playoff game? Find our pick for that matchup, and the rest of the slate, in the week 10 edition of Football in Clarksville.

Game of the Week: Creek Wood Red Hawks (3-5) @ #4 Montgomery Central Indians (6-2)

For the first time this season, Montgomery Central looked truly vulnerable in a 55-22 loss to Marshall County before the bye week.

The good news for the Indians is that Creek Wood struggled in its last outing, too. The Red Hawks fell 45-7 at home to Kirkwood, with all the scoring coming in the first half. Montgomery Central responded well after its first loss of the season, and I expect a similar result here.

ClarksvilleNow’s Pick: Montgomery Central 31 – Creek Wood 17

#8 Northwest Vikings (2-6) @ #1 Kirkwood Cobras (7-1)

Northwest has lost six straight games, while Kirkwood has responded to its lone loss by outscoring opponents 143-19 over its last three contests.

If the Cobras look ahead to next week’s region 7-5A title game, they could face an early scare. Still, I expect Kirkwood’s backups to see plenty of action in the second half.

ClarksvilleNow’s Pick: Kirkwood 41 – Northwest 6

Clarksville High secured a 31-12 win over Siegel on Oct. 1, 2026. (Patrick Smith)

#2 Clarksville High Wildcats (6-2) @ Antioch Bears (8-0)

This week is the region 5-6A title game. Last season, Clarksville defeated Antioch in one of the biggest games of the year. The Wildcats hit the road this week looking to secure their fourth consecutive region title, but the Bears are a much tougher opponent this season.

Antioch has looked nearly unbeatable all year, and I expect that to continue Friday night.

ClarksvilleNow’s Pick: Antioch 31 – Clarksville 14

Nolensville Knights (8-0) @ #3 Rossview Hawks

Rossview has won four straight games, but the Hawks face one of the favorites to win the class 5A state title in the Nolensville Knights.

Rossview has already secured a playoff berth, and this non-region matchup won’t affect its postseason standing. The Hawks could suffer their first home loss of the season, but they still have plenty to play for as the regular season winds down.

ClarksvilleNow’s Pick: Nolensville 40 – Rossview 14

Northeast secured a pivotal 42-6 victory over Kenwood on Oct. 9, 2026. (Patrick Smith)

#5 Northeast Eagles (3-5) @ Dickson County Cougars (3-5)

Northeast enters the matchup riding the momentum of a region win over Kenwood before the break, but the Eagles still need one more victory to secure a playoff berth.

This is a massive opportunity against a Dickson County team that has struggled this season. It’s a tough road environment, but I think the Eagles are peaking at the right time.

ClarksvilleNow’s Pick: Northeast 23 – Dickson County 13

Henry County Patriots (4-4) @ #6 Kenwood Knights (3-5)

This matchup is an intriguing one. Henry County’s losses have come against quality opponents, but despite remaining undefeated in region play, the Patriots haven’t looked as dominant as some of their previous teams.

Kenwood running back Elijah King missed the Knights’ game against Northeast, and the offense sputtered without him. If King returns, this could be a closer contest, but I expect Henry County to win either way.

ClarksvilleNow’s Pick: Henry County 35 – Kenwood 21

West Creek fell to Cane Ridge 34-12 on Oct. 8, 2026. (Ky’Ron Washington)

#7 West Creek Coyotes (1-7) @ Overton Bobcats (1-7)

Both teams have been eliminated from playoff contention and will be searching for a positive finish to their seasons.

The Coyotes and Bobcats have struggled throughout the year, making this one of the more difficult games to predict. I’ll give West Creek the slight edge, but the contest could swing in either direction.

ClarksvilleNow’s Pick: West Creek 28 – Overton 13

Mayfield Cardinals (7-1) @ #9 Fort Campbell Falcons (2-5)

It hasn’t been Fort Campbell’s season. Both of the Falcons’ victories have come against winless opponents, and Mayfield presents a much tougher challenge as they’ve collected seven wins on the season up to this point. I expect the Cardinals to earn a comfortable victory in this one.

ClarksvilleNow’s Pick: Mayfield 42 – Fort Campbell 12

Clarksville Academy dropped to 0-7 with a 52-6 loss to Ezell-Harding on Oct. 2, 2026. (Ky’Ron Washington)

#10 Clarksville Academy Cougars (0-8) @ Franklin Christian Academy Falcons (3-5)

It’s no secret that Clarksville Academy has struggled throughout the 2026-27 season. The Cougars face a tough challenge on the road, and I expect Franklin Christian to come away with a convincing win.

ClarksvilleNow’s Pick: Franklin Christian 49 – Clarksville Academy 0
