CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Austin Peay men’s basketball team is coming off of quite a week. Last Wednesday, the team hosted Lipscomb and came away with an impressive 11-point win.
In that Lipscomb game, a new attendance record was set at F&M Bank Arena. However, that record wouldn’t last long, as a new record was set Saturday when the North Alabama Lions came to town. That crowd got quite the show. The Govs dominated the Lions, winning 91-62 and improving to 11-1 in conference play and 11-0 at home. The Govs have now won six games in a row and sit atop the ASUN standings.

We’re nearing the end of the regular season, though, so every game is crucial. This week, the Govs will travel to Charlotte, N.C., to take on the Queens Royals Wednesday night. It will be a quick turnaround after that as the Govs return home to play the Bellarmine Knights.
Now, let’s dive into the preview for this week’s slate.

Wednesday, Feb. 11: APSU at Queens
It’s been a season of streaks for the Queens Royals. The team started conference play hot, winning their first seven games. However, the team then went on a three-game conference losing streak at the end of January. Recently, the Royals have regained their form, though, and are riding a two-game winning streak as the Govs come to town.
This will be the first and only matchup between the Govs and Royals in the regular season. The last meeting between these teams was on Feb. 20, 2025, when the Govs came away with a 92-78 victory. Overall, the Govs are 2-3 against the Royals all-time.
Queens is only sitting two games behind the Govs, so this matchup could have postseason implications. With a win, the Govs would have a three-game lead over Queens with five games to play.

Saturday, Feb. 14: APSU vs. Bellarmine
After what will surely be a tough battle in Charlotte, the Govs will return home to take on the Bellarmine Knights. The Knights enter this week with an 11-13 overall record and a 6-6 mark in conference.
Quietly, the Knights are in fifth place in the conference after finishing dead-last with a 2-16 conference record last season. The Knights are riding a four-game winning streak, with one of those wins coming against Queens.
The Knights have been much better at home than they have been on the road, though. The team has an 8-3 record at home and a 2-10 mark on the road. Last season, the Govs and Knights split the regular season series, with the home team winning each contest.
It’s worth noting that even when Bellarmine has struggled as a whole, they’ve given the Govs tough games. Two of the last three meetings between the Govs and Knights have gone to overtime.
