CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Basketball season is approaching for Austin Peay State University. Last month, Austin Peay’s inaugural UAC conference schedule was released, and today, the non-conference slate was revealed.
The men’s basketball season will tip off on Oct. 11 as the Govs welcome the Evansville Aces to town for an exhibition. The Govs will have another exhibition, against IU Indy, at home on Oct. 27, before officially opening the season at home on Nov. 2 against Lane College.
Before the schedule drop, many wondered if the Govs would get to see any of their previous ASUN rivals in the non-conference slate. The Govs joined the UAC this summer, so many of the teams that fans have grown accustomed to will no longer be conference foes. With Wednesday’s release, though, we learned that the Govs will indeed have three non-conference matchups with ASUN teams this season.
The first of these matchups will be on Dec. 19 when the Bellarmine Knights come to Clarksville. Then, on Dec. 21, the Govs welcome the Lipscomb Bisons to F&M Bank Arena. The final ASUN opponent is the Queens Royals, who the Govs will travel to on New Year’s Eve.
