CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Earlier in July, all Austin Peay teams officially joined the new United Athletic Conference. The football team has already been playing in the UAC, but the other programs had been playing in the Atlantic Sun.
This means that Austin Peay will play the teams they’ve previously been playing football-only in every sport going forward. As a result, conference schedules are going to look different this season. On Wednesday, the inaugural UAC schedules for the men’s and women’s basketball teams were revealed.
Men’s basketball

Here’s the APSU men’s basketball conference schedule, with home games in bold:
- Jan. 6 – vs. Eastern Kentucky
- Jan. 9 – at North Alabama
- Jan. 13 – at UT Arlington
- Jan. 16 – vs. Tarleton State
- Jan. 20 – vs. Central Arkansas
- Jan.y 27 – at Abilene Christian
- Jan. 30 – at Tarleton State
- Feb. 3 – vs. Little Rock
- Feb. 6 – vs. UT Arlington
- Feb. 10 – vs. Abilene Christian
- Feb. 13 – at West Georgia
- Feb. 17 – at Eastern Kentucky
- Feb. 24 – vs. West Georgia
- Feb. 27 – vs. North Alabama
- March 3 – at Little Rock
- March 6 – at Central Arkansas
Fans of Austin Peay football will recognize most of these opponents, as the Govs played all of them except UT Arlington and Little Rock. Fans will also notice there’s no Lipscomb, Queens, or any of the Florida schools we’re accustomed to seeing. The Govs could still play some of these teams in non-conference games, but they’ll no longer be conference opponents.
Luckily for the Govs, they don’t have too many long road trips. The Govs will never play more than two road games in a row, and they have a nice three-game homestand right in the middle of the season. Many basketball fans will definitely have that finale against Central Arkansas circled, as it could definitely have postseason implications once again.
Women’s basketball

Here’s the APSU women’s basketball conference schedule, with home games in bold:
- Jan. 6 – at Eastern Kentucky
- Jan. 9 – vs. North Alabama
- Jan. 13 – vs. Abilene Christian
- Jan.y 16 – vs. West Georgia
- Jan. 23 – at UT Arlington
- Jan. 27 – at Central Arkansas
- Jan. 30 – at Little Rock
- Feb. 3 – vs. Tarleton State
- Feb. 6 – vs. UT Arlington
- Feb. 10 – vs. Little Rock
- Feb. 13 – at North Alabama
- Feb. 20 – vs. Central Arkansas
- Feb. 24 – at Tarleton State
- Feb. 27 – at Abilene Christian
- March 3 – at West Georgia
- March 6 – vs. Eastern Kentucky
Like the men’s team, the women’s team will also start the season with a rivalry matchup against Eastern Kentucky. The Govs then get a nice three-game homestand at the beginning of the season before hitting the road for two games in Arkansas and one in Texas.
The Govs get to end the season with a home game against Eastern Kentucky. The Govs knocked the Colonels out of the postseason tournament last season, and this game could end up having major implications as well.
