Monday afternoon, the family of the woman, Oscarina Rincón, released a statement on a GoFundMe page.

“We are devastated by the tragic loss of Oscarina Rincón, who was taken from us far too soon due to a horrific act of domestic violence,” they said. “Her alleged attacker was later arrested, but nothing can bring her back to us.

“Oscarina was a loving daughter, sister, mother and friend. She came to the United States searching for a better future, but her life was tragically cut short. Her family is now facing the unimaginable pain of laying her to rest, and they need our help to bring her back home to Venezuela, where she belongs,” the statement said.

They are raising funds to cover the costs of the funeral and transportation to Venezuela. To help the family, click the Oscarina Rincón GoFundMe page.
