CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Rossview High junior forward Ellie Hankenmeier has been named Clarksville Now Player of the Week following her dominant play over the week of Dec. 2. In that time frame, the Lady Hawks went 2-0 and defeated the likes of Battle Ground Academy and Creek Wood High School.
During the two games played, Hankenmeier averaged 16 points, 11.5 rebounds and 3 blocked shots per game.
“Ellie is a tremendous competitor who has continued to grow every year she has been in our program,” said Rossview High head coach Clay Head. “She provides our team with a toughness and intensity when she is on the floor. Her role has continued to grow each year offensively, and we are looking forward to watching her continued improvement as the season progresses.”
Hankemeier’s play this week has helped improve the Hawks to a 6-0 record to begin the young season. While her individual dominance is a big reason for the team’s success, Ellie chose to give the credit to the girls around her that leave it all on the floor.
“Getting this award means a lot to me,” Hankenmeier said. “I am very thankful for getting to play the sport I love. I couldn’t have done this without my teammates.”
