CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) — The City Market indoor mini-mall opened in downtown Clarksville in March, and storefronts are beginning to fill up with new local businesses.
The indoor shopping center at 120 Franklin St. opened with Fanelli’s Deli + Market at its front. Since then, multiple businesses have joined the community.

City Market is currently home to Fanelli’s, Affordable Storage, Cuppow Collectibles, The Clarksville Collection, Pro 7 Studio, Make Your Mark framers, and City Boy Country Life.
There are still seven open storefronts at the Market, but business owners say traffic is picking up.
“We’re really seeing a bunch of life in the City Market,” said Ryan Bowie, owner of City Boy Country Life. “I think when the vaccine came, more people have gotten vaccinated and we’ve lifted some of the mask regulations, people feel like they can get back to what they were doing before.”

The City Market also provides shorter access to Franklin street from the Commerce Street parking garage.
A growing downtown
The City Market is just one of many changes that have come to downtown Clarksville in recent months. New businesses such as Trazo Meadery have joined the downtown community, and more are on the way, like Star Spangled Brewing Company and their new Spring Street Brewery and Taproom.
The return of events like the Downtown Market and Downtown @ Sundown also serve to bring people out to enjoy Clarksville’s historic district.
Another reason for the uptick in new businesses could be large capital projects being planned, such as the F&M Bank event center and Clarksville Performing Arts Center, offering new avenues for entertainment downtown.
Downtown restaurants and bars will also soon enjoy new prospects thanks to a new Downtown Entertainment District designation, which will allow open container along certain streets as well as expand outdoor seating opportunities.
