CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A 71-year-old laundromat employee who was attacked by three teens last month has died from his injuries.

Clarksville police said that Ted Cook died late Saturday, June 9 at the hospital. He never returned home after the initial attack on May 30.

A GoFundMe campaign was established before Cook passed. Organizer Brianna Galavez says the funds will now go to Cook’s widow.

Police said three juveniles entered a laundromat located at 714 Peachers Mill Rd. around 10 p.m. on May 30 and pointed a rifle at the employee. After struggling with the suspects, Cook fell to the ground where he was kicked and hit with the butt of the rifle multiple times.

While one of the juveniles pointed the rifle at the victim on the floor, the others tipped over a coin-operated game machine and took an unknown amount of money. The victim’s vehicle keys were taken and the juveniles fled from the scene.

Two of the juveniles are 14 and the third is 13 years old.

The investigation continues and the additional charges may be brought against the teenage suspects. They are currently being held in juvenile detention.
