CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – It’s Warfield Shield week in Montgomery County, and with anticipation building for the area’s biggest rivalry, it’s time to get back to our predictions.
Before we get to this week’s picks, Montgomery Central moved up another spot in the rankings after another dominant win Friday, while Northwest and Kenwood both pulled off late upsets. Personally, I went 4-2 with my picks last week, and this time around, I’m looking to run the table.
Game of the Week: #5 Rossview Hawks (0-2) @ #2 Clarksville Wildcats (0-2)
It’s Warfield Shield time, and for the second straight season, both teams enter the rivalry at 0-2. The difference this year is that Rossview has some momentum after taking Kirkwood down to the final play Friday night. I expect the Hawks to play another close game, but Clarksville will win its ninth straight Warfield Shield.

#7 Kenwood Knights (1-1) @ #1 Kirkwood Cobras (2-0)
Kirkwood’s offense didn’t hit its typical gear last week, but the Cobras still took care of business against Rossview. Kenwood had quite the comeback against White House-Heritage, stunning the Patriots 24-21. The Knights’ secondary won’t make things any easier for the Cobras through the air, but Kirkwood should still come out on top.

McCracken County Mustangs (1-1) @ #3 Northeast Eagles (1-1)
No matter the result, this game is bound to be a shootout. Northeast is averaging 33 points per game through its first two games, while McCracken County is averaging 40. The Eagles lost a close game to Stratford in Week 1 after giving up a late lead, but I don’t expect the same thing to happen Friday. Northeast learns from its first game and comes away with a close win.

#4 Montgomery Central Indians (2-0) @ Harpeth Indians (0-2)
Montgomery Central had another dominant performance Friday, improving to 2-0 for the first time since 2021. Harpeth has started 0-2 and was the Indians’ only win last season. Malosi Laban and the Indians’ rushing attack should continue to find success, leading Montgomery Central to another dominant victory this week.

#6 Northwest Vikings (2-0) @ Davidson Academy Bears (1-1)
Northwest has outdone Montgomery Central, winning its first home game since 2022 on Friday and starting 2-0 for the first time since before the pandemic. The Vikings took Wilson Central to overtime before coming away with a 6-3 victory. I think Northwest will cool off over the next few weeks, and Davidson Academy will hand the Vikings their first loss of the season.

Fort Knox Eagles (0-2) @ #8 Fort Campbell Falcons (1-1)
The Army Bowl is always a special matchup between Kentucky’s two Army post high school teams. The Falcons got back on track Friday with a 44-0 win over Clarksville Academy, while Fort Knox has been outscored 73-6 through its first two games. Friday’s Army Bowl should turn into another dominant performance from the Falcons.
Clarksville Now’s Pick: Fort Campbell 36 – Fort Knox 6
Antioch Bears (2-0) @ #9 West Creek Coyotes (0-2)
West Creek has faced two excellent offenses, with both putting up 50 points against the Coyotes’ defense heading into Week 3. Unfortunately for West Creek, things won’t get much easier Friday. Antioch boasts an explosive offense led by Colorado commit quarterback Andre Adams, which could set up another game that gets away from the Coyotes

#10 Clarksville Academy (0-2) vs. Grace Christian Academy (2-0)
Things have unfortunately started as expected for Clarksville Academy, which has dropped its first two games by a combined score of 86-0. The Cougars will look to finally put some points on the board against Grace Christian Academy, but the Lions have already picked up two decisive wins this season. Hopefully, Clarksville Academy can hold its own, but this one could be a rough matchup.
