CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) Supporters of consolidated government for Clarksville-Montgomery County came together Tuesday at Old Glory Distilling Company for a reception which drew around 50 people.

Consolidated Government Charter Commission Chairman Katie Gambill told those who were there that two of the most important things the commission has heard from the public is that there needs to be good communication and transparency.

Gambill said their answer to that was a website, OurUnitedCommunity.com that is being built and when you go to that site and put in your email, you will receive an email asking “are you sure you want information on consolidated government.”

That is where the Charter Commission will put their meeting minutes, updates and other information. Each person who signs up on the site will be able to keep up to date on the work of the commission.

Montgomery County Mayor Jim Durrett said he has full confidence in the work of the members of the Charter Commission. “I endorse those 15 people and I endorse this process. The last thing about it is the people ultimately get to decide,” said Durrett

The mission statement for the group, Our United Community is to “educate and empower the community to support consolidated government.
