CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (ESPN CLARKSVILLE) Family, friends, fans, coaches and teammates packed William Workman Gymnasium to cheer for Bashara on the home court one last time. The ceremony was held during half-time of the boys basketball game.
Bashara Graves joins the list of elite athletes at Clarksville High. Ted Young, Shawn Marion and Trenton Hassell all have had this honor. Bashara Graves is now on that list. Ted Young and Trenton Hassell were both on hand to welcome her to the club.
When Bashara wore that number 11 jersey for Clarksville high she scored 2,397 points, grabbed 1,591 rebounds, 493 assists, 297 steals and 348 blocks. She was All-District every year, 3 time District MVP, All State, Gatorade Player of the Year and a McDonald’s All-American. While at CHS her teams won 127 games and lost 13. They won 4 district titles, 2 region titles, 3 sectional titles and 3 berths to the state playoffs.
After high school, Bashara became a Lady Vol and went on to play for the legendary coach Pat Summit at the University of Tennessee. She also represented the United States as a Junior Olympian. She went on to the WNBA to play for the Minnesota Lynx and play overseas in South Korea.
