CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Weekend temperatures are expected to spike this weekend, and the public is urged to prepare for extreme heat.

The National Weather Service is forecasting the hottest weather so far this year with temperatures reaching the mid 90’s through Sunday and heat index values approaching 100 degrees.

Additionally an Air Quality Alert has been issued for much of middle Tennessee for ground level ozone concentrations. These conditions are not a threat to the general public but children and adults and those with respiratory conditions such as asthma should limit outdoor activity.

Anyone who has to be outdoors this weekend is urged to stay hydrated, wear comfortable clothing, and use sunscreen.
