Lanford Gentry went home to be with Jesus on Monday, September 7, 2015, after a long battle with health issues.
He was born on August 15, 1933, in Newport, TN to the late H.T. Gentry and Euretha Shrader Gentry.
He was a retired MSG with the U.S. Army after 27 years of service. During that time, he served two tours in Vietnam, tour in Korea, and multiple overseas tours in Germany and Italy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Sandra Ann Muhr, two brothers, and two sisters.
He leaves behind to mourn his loss, his loving wife of 63 years, Grace of Clarksville, TN; his children, Pamela Mick (George) of South Carolina, Patty Bell (Eddie) of Georgia, Rickie Gentry of Clarksville, TN, Rhonda Earhart (Mitch) of Dover, TN, and Jeffrey Locke (Lafonda) of Clarksville, TN; sister, Carolyn Hunter (Ronald) of Florida; seven half brothers and sisters of Florida; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Lanford’s remains were cremated and a private memorial service was held on September 8, 2015.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Shriners Children Hospitals, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or the Ronald McDonald House.
