CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The MTWOA Grand Championships of 2023 took place this past weekend on Saturday, Jan. 21.

The majority of wrestling programs from around the Clarksville area participated in the tournament. This includes the likes of Clarksville Academy, Clarksville High, Kenwood, Northeast, Northwest, Montgomery Central, Rossview and West Creek.

Numerous programs stuck out during the MTWOA Grand Championships such as the girls’ wrestling programs for Northwest and Montgomery Central.

The Lady Vikings and Lady Indians both recorded 30 wins throughout the tournament on Saturday. Both finished atop of the leaderboards for most match points in the girls’ division.

According to the Track Wrestling website, Montgomery Central concluded the event with 193 points and Northwest concluded with 113 points. Meanwhile, these Clarksville-area girls’ programs also finished top 10 in points: West Creek placed third with 110 points; Rossview in sixth place with 69 points; Clarksville Academy in ninth place with 50 points.

Montgomery Central girls’ wrestling also finished the MTWOA Grand Championships with the second-best winning percentage after winning 32 matches and only 7 matches. In addition, the Indians’ own Genesis Gilmore was awarded the most outstanding wrestler award for her performances on Saturday.
