The driver had apparently gotten out of the Cruze, but passenger Lisa D. Washington, 60, of Tennessee, was still in the car.
The parked Cruze was hit from behind by a 2019 Toyota Prius, the report said.
Washington was killed in the wreck. The driver of the Prius was injured.
The eastbound lanes were shut down from Exit 11 to Exit 19 for about seven hours Sunday after the crash.
The incident is still under investigation, and no information was immediately available on why the Cruze was parked on I-24.
