CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The mother of a 13-year-old disabled boy who was found dead in his home turned herself in on murder charges Sunday night.

Cheyenne Dawn Maddox, the mother of Kadaris Maddox, turned herself in at Montgomery County Jail, following an indictment on a charge of first-degree murder, according to Clarksville Police spokesman Scott Beaubien.

On July 6, Clarksville Police responded to a residence on Virginia Terrace, where they found Kadaris dead. Several other children were also in the home.

Kadaris’ mother, Cheyenne, was arrested on five counts of child abuse and neglect. Then, on Aug. 9, authorities charged Maddox again, this time in the death of Kadaris, charging her with aggravated child abuse/neglect/endangerment of a child.

An autopsy report released on Sept. 28 stated that the boy’s death was the result of malnutrition, and it classified his death as a homicide. At the time of his death, he was 3-feet 10 inches tall and weighed only 35 pounds, according to documents obtained by Clarksville Now.

Police Detective Hughes with the Special Operations Homicide Unit presented evidence to the October session of the Montgomery County Grand Jury regarding the investigation into the death of Kadaris, Beaubien said. The grand jury indicted Cheyenne Maddox on the murder charge.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact Hughes at 931-648-0656, ext. 5684.
