CLARKSVILLE, TN – West Creek High School’s Raider team placed second in Austin Peay State University’s Fall 2021 Army ROTC Raider Challenge.
The Raider Challenge was held on APSU’s campus on Oct. 23 and showcased JROTC teams from 11 high schools in Middle Tennessee, according to the APSU ROTC Facebook page. The teams engaged in a variety of physical and mental exercises aimed at encouraging communication and problem solving skills
West Creek JROTC instructor Scott Loose said the team has a history of claiming the top spot in the competition, and were initially disappointed with a 2nd place finish.
“This was a challenging, extremely well conceived and run event. Our Raiders competed at an extremely high level. Unfortunately, we missed out on defending our title by one penalty point,” Loose said.
“Our Raiders have developed such a winning culture that they were visibly disappointed with a 2nd place finish. That being said, they lost with grace and congratulated all participating teams. Our Raiders will take this setback and use it to be stronger for the next competition.”
