CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The West Creek Coyotes hosted the Northwest Vikings for homecoming in a rivalry football matchup on Saturday. While Northwest battled in the extremely wet and muddy conditions, two timely touchdowns for the Coyotes were the difference, and West Creek pulled out a win in the “West Side Classic” for a fourth straight year, 14-0.

Early on, neither offense could get much going, with neither scoring through the first 12 minutes. However, in the middle of the second quarter, Kordae Walker got a slant and hit the jets, taking it all the way to the house.

West Creek head coach Micheal Booker was excited about his team’s energy and their continued fight. “They came out hard; they’ve been excited for this game all week,” said Booker. “The better we played, the more excited we got, and we just tried to ride that momentum the whole way.”

Northwest defense was making stops, and the Northwest offense was moving the ball. But in the wet conditions, the Vikings could not put points on the board, although they were close multiple times.

Northwest head coach Mark Hall was proud of his defense but knows there needs to be improvement on the other side of the ball. “I think our defense rocked,” said Hall. “They’ve struggled a little bit, so it was good to see them return to their brand of football. We have to be better offensively and put some points on the board. Our kids fought nonetheless, and I’m proud of them for that.”

West Creek added one more touchdown from Isaiah Williamson in the fourth quarter. For Booker, he’s enjoying this one but is ready to get back to work.

“Today, we were the better team, and I’m happy about that,” said Booker. “I’m gonna go to homecoming, shake a leg, kiss my wife, hug my kids. It’s back to work on Monday.”
