CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – With lows in the single digits coming up, Montgomery and surrounding counties are under a Cold Weather Advisory from 6 p.m. Tuesday until 9 a.m. Wednesday.

The low Monday night will be 13, and the low Tuesday night will be only 7 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. Expect very cold wind chills as low as zero.

“The cold wind chills could result in hypothermia if precautions are not taken,” the NWS said. “Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves.”

Emergency Warming Shelter

Anyone needing shelter can go to the Clarksville Area Urban Ministries Emergency Warming Shelter at the Madison Street UMC Gymnasium, 300 Commerce St. The shelter is open seven days a week, from 3 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., for as long as the overnight temperatures are below freezing. The shelter is in particular need of volunteers and is urging people to sign up online to help.
