Contributed commentary by John Daffin:

I am so glad to have attended the Wallace Redd for County Mayor announcement this past Saturday at the Dotsonville Community Center.

Wallace is exactly what we need right now. His remarks of why he is running and his wife’s Helga’s introduction was moving and clear. The contrast was striking at his announcement: There were not any of the usual wealthy insiders, mover and shakers or developers there. I really felt welcome and comfortable with a room full of ordinary folks like myself that are concerned with the direction of our county.

I also felt comfortable with a man who has stood by his wife for the last 41 years and served his country in the Army for seven years. Wallace is also the pastor at Sugar Creek Baptist Church in Woodlawn, where he has been for the last seven years.

Wallace has also served off and on the Clarksville City Council with a pay in his first years of only $200 a month. We need a public servant like Wallace Redd for our next mayor.
