FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. – Dozens of Soldiers and family members turned out Wednesday, March 26 at Fort Campbell to serve as “extras” for the filming of an episode of the TV series “Nashville”. It was cool and windy day as the extras and members of the shows cast and crew repeated scenes at the outdoor concert stage set up at Sabre Army Airfield.

The filming for the show has been going on at Fort Campbell throughout the week with the episode scheduled to air sometime in early May. The premise of the episode was a country music concert to show the performers support for the military. One of the actual country stars at Wednesday’s filming was singer Kellie Pickler.

One of the Soldiers appearing on stage with the actors was Specialist Michael Carroll with the 1st Brigade Combat Team who talked about being a part of the filming for the TV series. “It’s a lot of background work but it’s cool to be on a set and have a different kind of experience from what you see on TV. It’s been a lot of fun for me so far,” said Carroll.

Cast members from the show included actress Connie Britton who stars as Rayna Jaymes, an older country music superstar whose star is starting to fade. Also on stage was actress Hayden Panettiere who plays Juliette Barnes, a young up and coming singer who hopes to replace Britton’s character as the “Queen of Country Music”.

Adding to the conflict on the series is actor Charles Esten who stars as Deacon Claybourne who plays a songwriter and singer who is an ex-lover of Jayme’s character and father of one of her two children. There is more conflict as both of the female artists try to outdo the other for Esten’s character’s attention.
