CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Amid high winds this afternoon, several of the traffic control lights on Wilma Rudolph Boulevard are not working, which is causing considerable traffic congestion, according to Clarksville Police.
The lights affected are near Governor’s Square Mall. Southbound traffic is backed up past Interstate 24. Northbound traffic is backed up almost to 101st Airborne Division Parkway.
The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) and the Clarksville Street Department have both been notified and are working to correct the problem, according to Officer Scott Beaubien. If you have to travel in that area, allow yourself additional time. CPD recommends that motorists take an alternate route until the lights can be fixed.
Drivers are reminded that when a traffic signal is out, the intersection should be treated as a four-way stop.
