CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (Clarksvillenow.com) A group of close to 500 Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts joined together and spent their Saturday on Memorial Day weekend honoring the memory and service of veterans by placing hundreds of American flags at grave sites in Clarksville-Montgomery County.

The scouts, with the Cogioba District of the Middle Tennessee Council, along with family members gathered at both Greenwood Cemetery and Resthaven Memorial Gardens to place the flags. The Cogioba District serves scouting in Montgomery, Stewart and Houston Counties in Tennessee as well as Fort Campbell.

Executive Director for the Cogioba District, Grace Vasquez, talked about why the flags were being put on veterans graves. “To honor them and the service they have given our country. It’s just a thank you for everything they’ve done for us,” said Vasquez.
Vasquez added that each grave site and the flag will be saluted by the scout or scouts after the flag has been put in place.
