CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Rossview High utility player C.J. Lattimore has been named Clarksville Now Player of the Week for his production at the plate.

During the week of April 24, the Hawks played in four games, and they came out victorious each time, outscoring opponents 50-12.

Of those 50 runs, 17 came against West Creek High last Monday. Rossview won 17-5, and Lattimore led the team in runs batted in with 7.

The sophomore went 3 for 4 with a double, a home run, 2 runs scored, 1 walk and 7 runs batted in.

Rossview clinched the series against West Creek and their remaining two games against Beech High and Portland High.

Lattimore finished the week going 5 for 11 with 4 runs scored, 5 walks, 2 doubles, 1 home run and 9 runs batted in. He accounted for nearly 10% of the Hawks’ 50 runs last week.

2022-23 season

Lattimore has been a consistent presence at the plate for Rossview during the 2022-23 season.

Throughout the course of the year, Lattimore has transitioned into a completely different hitter at the plate.

Slugging % 0.344 0.417 0.382

At the beginning of the season, Lattimore could have been described as more of a contact hitter. He had a batting average of .313 during the first three weeks, while only having 1 extra-base hit and 5 runs scored.

However, as the season progressed, Lattimore has been able to generate more power in the batter’s box. While his batting average dropped, Lattimore has had a significant rise in categories such as runs batted in, extra base hits, slugging percentage and OPS.

In addition, he’s become more patient at the plate, and it shows with his walks earned and on-base percentage.

Through six weeks of the season, Lattimore has compiled a batting average of .279 with 19 hits, 20 runs scored, 12 walks, 4 doubles, 1 home run and 23 runs batted in.
