Robert Michael Mason, aged 33, left this world on Wednesday February 28, 2024. With love, memories, and music echoing in their hearts, his mother, Patricia Shelton, father, Michael Mason, and siblings Grace Mason and Daniel Mason make up the closest of many surviving family members who hold Robert dear.

His talent and passion for music will be at the forefront of remembrance for most, but Robert’s creative nature, oddball humor, and unique spirit are what most permeate the memories of all who knew him. Robert picked up the guitar at a very early age, and soon left his instructor saying he had surpassed all he could teach him. From an after-school hobby, long into adulthood, playing music and writing songs were Robert’s escape.

After studying at Austin Peay State University, Robert entered the U.S. Air Force in 2012. He served as a Broadcast Journalist, highlighting Air Force personnel and their missions worldwide. He was stationed at Hurlburt Field AFB, Florida, Osan Air Base, Republic of Korea, and Andersen AFB in Guam, before discharging in 2018 at the rank of Senior Airman.

Robert was blessed to fulfill some of life’s dreams traveling the world and experiencing foreign cultures firsthand. Beginning when his family moved to Heidelberg, Germany, where Robert graduated high school in 2008, and all through his Air Force career, he traveled through Europe and parts of Asia on myriad adventures.

In Clarksville, where his maternal grandparents, Robert and Mary Anderson, lived and preceded him in death, Robert leaves behind his mother and stepfather, Patty and Judge Wayne Shelton. His father and stepmother, Michael and Mary Mason, reside in Holly Springs, North Carolina. In nearby Nashville is his younger sister, Grace. Robert’s younger brother, Daniel, is currently living in Australia. His maternal uncles, aunts, and cousins are spread through Tennessee and Kentucky. His Mason relatives, including uncles, aunts, and cousins, live in Arkansas and Oklahoma. Paternal grandparents Edward P and Joan Mason are located in Jonesboro, Arkansas, where a memorial service will be held at a later date.
