Update, 8:50 a.m.: CPD negotiators persuaded the man to let the children out and to surrender peacefully. At approximately 8:20 a.m., the children left the home unharmed, followed shortly by the suspect, who was taken into custody without incident. He has been charged with aggravated domestic assault.
The roadway has been reopened.

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Police are in a standoff with a man barricaded with his children in a house off Needmore Road. Clarksville Police have established a perimeter, and officers are trying to negotiate with the man.
At about 2:20 a.m., the incident began in the 600 block of Pat Drive, in a neighborhood just east of Glenellen Elementary School. The situation is domestic-related and is confined to that house, according to CPD spokesman Scott Beaubien. The spouse safely exited the house.
CPD is asking residents in the immediate area to remain indoors if possible. Pat Drive is closed to traffic near the scene and will remain closed until the situation is safely resolved, Beaubien said.
