CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Representatives from participating businesses and the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System met Friday morning for the annual Partners in Education (PIE) Breakfast at the Wilma Rudolph Events Center.
The event honors businesses and organizations in and around Clarksville that volunteer and make financial contributions to the school system.
Director of Schools Dr. B.J. Worthington discussed this year’s theme, ‘Own the Difference,’ and thanked the nearly 170 businesses that support the cause.
“We experience so much generosity from business partners who do so much each year to support public schools with their time, talent, and resources,” he said. “We could not be a great school district without the support from each of you.”
Through fundraising done by the Education Foundation and PIE contributions, a total of $461,000 was donated to CMCSS this past year. Volunteers logged 2,435 service hours.
Clarksville-Montgomery County Education Foundation Director Candy Johnson was grateful for the outpouring of support from the business community.
“It’s an amazing feeling to know that so many businesses in the community take time out of their day and provide their expertise, their resources, and all that they can to support the growth and development of our students and teachers,” she said.
