CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – A parent who assaulted the principal of Glenellen Elementary School last year was sentenced Friday in Montgomery County court.
On April 21, 2022, the parent, Tandrea Laquise Sanders, was having a dispute with the principal that was caught on surveillance video, according to previous reports. In the video, Sanders, holding a baby at the time, struck the principal.
Sanders entered an open plea of guilty to two counts, assault and threat to bodily injury, and contribution to delinquency of a child. Sanders has already completed nine anger management counseling classes, according to court officials.
In Judge Adrienne Fry’s court on Friday, she was sentenced to two years total, in a combination of jail time and probation.

On count one, Sanders received a one-year sentence. “She is sentenced to 11 months 29 days,” explained Assistant District Attorney Jeff Watts. “180 days of it is to serve and the other six months is on supervised probation.” That means she will spend approximately six months in jail.
On count two, Sanders was sentenced to a year on state-supervised probation. It’s consecutive, so once she completes her time on count one, she will begin count two.
District Attorney General Robert Nash said his office is committed to prosecuting school violence.
“We need to secure these schools and remove violence – whoever commits it – in our schools against our teachers, parents and children. That’s the mission of this office,” Nash said.
