CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – A Palmyra man has been charged with negligent homicide in the death of a woman during a crash on Highway 13 last year.

On June 10, 2020, an SUV was traveling south on Highway 13, and Gregory L. Howell, 28, was traveling west on Bryant Hollow Road in a Chevrolet Trailblazer, according to an arrest warrant obtained by Clarksville Now.

Howell disregarded the stop sign and drove into oncoming traffic, the warrant said. His vehicle collided with the SUV, causing both to go airborne and flip several times.

Three people were taken to the hospital. Howell’s passenger, who was not named in the warrant, was flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, where she died from her injuries.

Howell admitted to running the stop sign, the warrant said.

The warrant was issued June 12, 2020, and was served Thursday. Howell was booked into Montgomery County Jail Thursday on a charge of criminally negligent homicide.
