CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. — Operation Homefront, the national nonprofit serving America’s military families®, announced this week that Lisa Payne of Clarksville is its regional 2017 Volunteer of the Year. The region includes the Mid-Atlantic, Carolinas, Kentucky, and Tennessee.
The Operation Homefront Volunteer of the Year Award recognizes an outstanding adult, youth, group or corporate entity who, by exemplary service as a volunteer, demonstrates commitment to Operation Homefront’s values and to its mission of building strong, stable, and secure military families.
“Lisa’s time and commitment to our organization are priceless,” Operation Homefront Senior Director Vivian Dietrich said. “She is the ideal role model for giving back and a constant reminder of how Operation Homefront thrives when a community of volunteers work together to reach our mission. We are grateful for her dedication and support. I know many families have benefitted from her service.”
Payne has been volunteering with Operation Homefront since 2011 — first in Norfolk, Va., and now in Clarksville. In both locations, she has served at every event. Her dedication and leadership made the 2017 events at Fort Campbell an unprecedented success — serving 1,255 families at Back-to-School Brigade®, recruiting and managing volunteers, securing event space, and organizing $15,000 worth of toy donations for Holiday House.
Last year, 6,157 Operation Homefront volunteers logged more than 84,000 hours, providing more than $2 million in value to the organization.
