CLARKSVILLE, Tenn.- Northwest High School’s Jaisha Shelton was recently selected to be a member of the Brescia University Lady Bearcats Track and Field Team.
Jaisha joined Northwest’s track and field team as a freshman and has consistently been a starter for the Lady Vikings throughout the past 4 years. She also competed in many events such as long jump, 100 meter hurdles, 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash, 4x 100-meter relay, and 4 x 200-meter relay.
When asked about her experiences as a Lady Viking, Jaisha replied, “My experience as a member of the track team has taught me hard work and how to achieve set goals.”
In addition to being a member of the track and field team at NWHS, Jaisha has completed many volunteer hours with the Track Team. She has also successfully completed Honors courses and is a 2-year member of the Northwest Review which reports news for Northwest High. Jaisha currently holds a B average GPA.
NWHS Athletic Director, Jessica Peppard, stated, “Northwest is so proud of Jaisha and her accomplishments. She has worked hard throughout her high school career and will no doubt continue to push herself to be the best she can be, both athletically and academically.”
Northwest Girls Track and Field Head Coach, April Miller, stated, “I am excited for Jaisha and her pursuit of running track at the next level. Brescia University is getting a gem of an athlete and young lady in Jaisha. She definitely holds the characteristics necessary to excel in the collegiate track and field world. I know that Jaisha is hardworking, driven; and her genuine personality will help propel her to go far in college track, in her studies, and in life. On behalf of my coaching staff and Jaisha’s teammates, we truly wish her all the very best and are truly proud to call her a Lady Viking. We are looking forward to her continued leadership throughout her senior year, as well as to hearing of her successes at Brescia University.”
