CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Northeast two-way player Riley Blanc has become one of the most consistent hitters for the Eagles, and his production over the last four games has earned him Clarksville Now Player of the Week honors.

Blanc ended the regular season with four multi-hit games in a row. His hot stretch began when Northeast took on Cheatham County April 25. He went 2 for 3 on the day with a home run and 5 RBI’s. Blanc’s runs driven in accounted for half of the Eagles’ runs produced during the contest. Northeast won the game 10-0.

His play carried over in each of the following three contests. He finished the week with a batting average of .571 and an on-base percentage of .600. In addition, Blanc put together 3 extra base hits, 8 RBI’s, 3 runs scored and 1 walk.

“I’ve been focused on putting the ball in play by lifting the ball to the right side of the field,” he said. “At the beginning of the year, I started out slow because I tried to pull everything I made contact with. After constantly working on my approach with my teammates and coaches, the ball has started to look like a beach ball for me.”

Blanc’s pitching also worked to his advantage this past week as he made two appearances. His pitching totals were 8 innings pitched, 3 strikeouts, 8 hits, 2 walks and 1 earned run allowed.

2022 season

Statistics show Blanc is near the top of a significant amount of offensive statistical categories. He ranks second in totals hits, home runs, RBI’s, batting average, slugging percentage and OPS.

“Riley has really started to look comfortable at the plate, but also on the mound as well,” said Northeast head coach Charles Ratliff. “He’s a key component in the middle of our lineup and driving in runs. Having a guy that is versatile like Riley in every component of the game is a difference maker for our team, especially at this point in the season.”
