GREENWOOD, Ind. – Senior Austin Peay State University linebacker Adam Noble was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District™ Teams, Thursday.
Noble was recognized in a district-wide vote of sports information directors from North Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia, which comprises the institution’s third district.
Noble, from Springfield, Missouri, is a two-year captain for the Governors who has demonstrated outstanding capabilities on and off the field. A three-year starter, Noble needs six tackles to register 200 in his career and needs one more forced fumble to break into the career top-10 with six.
This year, Noble’s 50 total tackles is fourth-most on the team and leads all linebackers. He also has 2.5 tackles for loss, a pass break-up and a hurry.
In the classroom, the two-time OVC Medal of Honor recipient has claimed every institutional and conference academic honor imaginable during his decorated academic career. Noble is a three-time OVC Commissioner’s Honor Roll standout, has been named to the Dean’s List and Athletic Directors Honor Roll every semester since Fall 2011 and has been on the President’s List (4.0 GPA) each of the last five semesters. Earlier this fall, he was named a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy, the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame’s premier scholar-athlete honor.
Steeped in Austin Peay from an early age—his father Gerald played for the Govs in the early 1970s—Noble is a criminal justice major concentrated in homeland security with an agriculture minor. Last summer, he interned with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI).
Noble is the 22nd Governor—the first since Iosua Siliva and Ben Stansfield in 2013— since the district teams were created in 1985 to earn Academic All-District. Siliva and Stansfield both went on to earn Academic All-American nods later that same season; this season’s Academic All-Americans will be announced in December.
To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution, have participated in at least 50 percent of the team’s games and be of sophomore athletic eligibility.
