You’re sweating. Which is not surprising since you’re just a few miles into a run, and have reached a decision point, “Do I turn back to the car or suck it up and push through?” Even the most seasoned athletes need some motivation out on the road. This is where a good song saves a workout. Where a killer beat can change the “I thought I might lose a lung” into “I turned up the music and started to rock out when it got hard”. (When you suddenly become Rocky minus the 80’s style sweat suit).

Thanks to our friends at 5 Star Radio Group we’ve compiled a suggested playlist to get you in shape and motivated to Go Commando this October. Listen to any of the 5 Star stations: Q108 (107.9FM), The Beaver 1003 (100.3FM), Z97.5, or Eagle 94.3 and add some new favorites to the mix!

In No Particular Order:

Survivor: Eye of the Tiger You knew Rocky was already on our mind. Play this song right from the beginning and you won’t lose your will to survive.

Gwen Stefani: What Are You Waiting For? Actually prefer the edited version of this song. If you’re looking for a motivating female figure, look no further. Gwen doesn’t mess around.

FUN: Some Nights With just the right amount of soul searching and a high energy beat, you’ll be contemplating what you stand for by Mile 10. Maybe you’ll even figure it out when you cross the finish line.

Black Eyed Peas: Pump It. How does this song NOT make you run faster? Confession, one contributor played this song 3 times in a row just to get through an intense hill workout. We get it.

Maroon 5: One More Night Who doesn’t need a little Adam Levine to think about while they are on a long run?

Beyonce: Run the World (Radio Version) If anyone can rock a high intensity beat, it’s Sasha Fierce.

The Darkness: I Believe In a Thing Called Love Kind of a throwback but some great guitar solos and makes you feel loved. Always important.

Foo Fighters: My Hero You can be your own hero with this one. Kind of slow but great for pushing you up those hills, or when you need a great drum beat.

OK Go: This Too Shall Pass Fun beat, great lyrics, this song is great to listen to as you cruise along Riverside Drive. Check out the music video too. Love.

Firework: Katy Perry Cross the finish line and let the (virtual) fireworks begin. You made it. You’re a rockstar. Go celebrate!
