CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The Montgomery County Veterans Service Organization (VSO) is celebrating its 75th year of serving veterans in the Clarksville-Montgomery County area.
To commemorate this significant achievement, the VSO is hosting a celebration on Saturday, August 24 from 10 a.m-2 p.m. at Veterans Plaza, located at 350 Pageant Lane in Clarksville. There will be games, food and fun for people of all ages. Local dignitaries will also be in attendance to kick-off the event.
“Our VSO has been serving military veterans and family members since 1944. We did not want to let this year go by without recognizing that accomplishment,” said VSO Director Andrew Kester. “This event also gives us the opportunity to get to know the community better and let them know what services we have available. Anyone is welcome to join us.
The Montgomery County VSO has served nearly 8,000 military veterans through the years advising on services like disability compensation; veterans’ pension and surviving spouse pension; survivor benefits; burial benefits; healthcare, GI Bill and education; vocational rehabilitation; appeals and military service and discharge records.
If you have questions or would like to participate and showcase your organization at the 75th Anniversary Celebration on August 24, please contact VSO Director Andrew Kester at askester@mcgtn.net or call 931-553-5173.
