CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – With the conclusion of the 2022 baseball season, it’s time to honor players representing Montgomery County schools with the first Clarksville Now All-Area Baseball Team and Player of the Year.

There’s a wide variety of talented individuals that make up each high school team, but these players separated themselves from the rest. All statistics were calculated throughout the year using Game Changer. A number of coaches verified the data.

Clarksville Now 2022 All-Area Baseball Team

Catcher: Scotty Dean, Rossview – batting .414, 23 XBH’s, 9 home runs, 53 RBI’s, .542 OBP, .819 slugging percentage and 1.361 OPS.

Infield: Evan Primasing, Northeast – batting .444, 15 XBH’s, 4 home runs, 28 RBI’s, .523 OBP, .792 slugging percentage and 1.315 OPS.

Infield: AJ Harris, Northwest – batting .450, .621 OBP, .675 slugging percentage and 1.296 OPS.

Infield: Brady Cooper, Rossview – batting .439, 28 XBH’s, 18 doubles, 10 home runs, 49 RBI’s, .579 OBP, .803 slugging percentage and 1.382 OPS.

Infield: Andrew Jordan, Rossview – batting .383, 21 XBH’s, 12 doubles, 7 home runs, 43 RBI’s, .494 OBP, .645 slugging percentage and 1.140 OPS.

Outfield: Xaven Fowler, West Creek – batting .443, .551 OBP, .525 slugging percentage and 1.076 OPS.

Outfield: Cooper Wallace, Clarksville Academy – batting .441, 56 total hits, 39 RBI’s, 63 runs, .559 OBP, .575 slugging percentage and 1.134 OPS.

Outfield: Jackson Cook, West Creek – batting .412, .524 OBP, .632 slugging percentage and 1.156 OPS.

Utility: Jack Cross, Clarksville Academy – batting .379, 6 triples, 29 RBI’s, 34 walks, .571 OBP, .558 slugging percentage and 1.129 OPS.

Two-way player: DJ Merriweather, Clarksville Academy – batting .556, 31 XBH’s, 23 doubles, 6 home runs, 59 RBI’s, .655 OBP, .972 slugging percentage and 1.628 OPS. In addition, 41.1 innings pitched, ERA of 1.02, 70 strikeouts, 8 appearances.

Two-way player: Colton Lovelace, West Creek – batting .437, .565 OBP, .606 slugging percentage and 1.171 OPS. In addition, 40.1 innings pitched, ERA of 3.47, 47 strikeouts, 11 appearances.

Pitcher: Aidan Karns, Montgomery Central – 56 innings pitched, ERA of 2.25, 74 strikeouts, 12 appearances.

Pitcher: Cannon Rice, Rossview – 53.1 innings pitched, ERA of 1.71, 65 strikeouts, 12 appearances.

Pitcher: Evan Leonard, Clarksville Academy – 50 innings pitched, ERA of 1.26, 46 strikeouts, 13 appearances.

Pitcher: Dakoda Kessler, Montgomery Central – 48.1 innings pitched, ERA of 2.90, 52 strikeouts, 12 appearances.

Clarksville Now 2022 Baseball Player of the Year

DJ Merriweather, a two-way player for Clarksville Academy, has been selected as Player of the Year. Merriweather dominated opponents week-in and week-out, and his numbers attest to that.

Looking at his play at the plate, he led the county in categories such as hits, extra base hits, doubles, RBI’s, average, OBP, slugging percentage and OPS. He also led the county in pitching categories such as ERA, earned runs and hits.
