As to not coincide with the 6th Annual Independence Day Celebration, the Mayor’s Summer Night Lights event originally scheduled to take place Wednesday, July 3 at Summit Heights, will now take place on Tuesday, July 2. The event will be from 6 to 9:30 p.m.
All other dates will remain the same in the Summer Night Lights schedule.
The Mayor’s Summer Night Lights program runs every Monday and Wednesday, through Aug. 7 and features a multitude of activities including a DJ, , inflatables, dodge ball, performances by local music artists, motivational speakers, karaoke, Car Club demos, street hockey and so much more! A nightly meal is also provided, free of charge, by Manna Café.
Summer Night Lights also features free sports tournaments for ages 11-14, 15-17 and 18 and older.
Basketball tournaments are held at Bel-Aire Park, Summit Heights and the Kleeman Center beginning June 24. Each team must have five players to play. The schedule of basketball games is as follows:
• Kleeman Center – July 1
• Summit Heights – July 3
• Bel-Aire Park – July 8
• Kleeman Center – July 15
• Summit Heights – July 17
• Bel-Aire Park – July 22
• Kleeman Center – July 29
• Summit Heights – July 31
• Bel-Aire Park – August 5
Flag football tournaments are held at Pettus Park beginning June 26. Each team must have seven players to play. Flag football takes place on the following nights:
• July 10
• July 24
• August 8
