Martha Jo Turner, 92, of Clarksville, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, July 6, 2023.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bailey and Mamie Garmon Turner. She was an only child and remained single throughout her life but is survived by several cousins:
David Jaynes and his wife Faith, Barbara Johnson and her husband Steve, Sherry McClellan and her husband Wendell.

She loved children and enjoyed playing with and seeing pictures of her cousins’ children and grandchildren: Joshua Johnson (Megan), Joel Johnson, Kathleen McClellan Roozbehi, Michael McClellan, Leonice Jones, Jonah Johnson (Sydney), Jackson Johnson, Jude Johnson, Myla Johnson, Caleb Johnson, Nora Johnson, Sawyer Roozbehi, Karina Roozbehi, and Saylor Rae Tunnicliff. She is also survived by her faithful friends, Bobby and Barbara Hook.

Ms. Turner graduated from Clarksville High School and worked for the Department of Agriculture for many years as a secretary. She was a long-time member of the Madison Street United Methodist Church. She faithfully worshiped with the church online. After her beloved father’s death, she continued to live with and care for her mother until her mother passed.

She loved animals. She always had a dog, a cat, or both. Her Persian cat, Teshe, and her black cat, Inky, will never have a more doting owner. Ms. Turner had a caring heart. She gave generously to many causes: the church, animal shelters, veteran organizations, children hospitals, and others. She loved music and played the clarinet and piano when she was young. She had a wonderful sense of humor and kept the workers at the personal care home where she lived most recently amused and entertained. She was a joy to visit.

A grave-side service is planned for Saturday, August 12, at the Greenwood Cemetery in Clarksville at 10:30 a.m. Friends are invited. Arrangements are being handled by Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home. The service will be conducted by Reverend Harriet Bryan and Reverend Valarie James.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Madison Street United Methodist Church.
