CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A Clarksville man has been charged with aggravated assault after allegedly shooting a woman last week.

An earlier release said the incident occurred Oct. 23 around 3:53 p.m. in the area of Farris Dr. and Kellogg St.

An arrest warrant says police responded to a report of gunshots and found the victim lying on her back in a yard on Kellogg St. She had gunshot wounds on her right front and left back sides.

Police said this was not a random shooting. After a physical altercation between the adult female victim and the male suspect, the suspect shot the victim.

The woman was transported by LifeFlight to Vanderbilt Medical Center with serious but what appeared to be non life-threatening injuries.

During the course of the investigation, the victim was able to identify the shooter as 57-year-old Mark Anthony Cross. He was arrested Monday and charged with aggravated assault. His bond was set at $25,000.
