CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Clarksville-Montgomery County School Board met Tuesday, March 11 and during their Point of Pride awards recognized a number of teachers in the school system as well as three candidates for the Teacher of the Year program.

Out of 36 teachers in three different categories, one from each age and grade category was chosen to represent the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System (CMCSS) in the regional competition for Tennessee State Department of Education Teacher of the Year.

Teri Lindsey from Northeast Elementary was chosen for Pre-K through 4th Grade, Cathy Kolb with Moore Magnet Elementary was chosen for 5th through 8th Grade and Lindsay Knapp from Northeast High School was chosen for 9th through 12th Grade.

Speaking on behalf of the Clarksville-Montgomery County Education Foundation, Vice President Jeff Burkhart praised the work of the teachers. “The complete board is behind you. We appreciate everything you do. We all have children in the system and we appreciate you so much so congratulations,” Burkhart said.

Along with their Point of Pride certificates handed out by members of the school board each teacher received a $100 check from the Clarksville-Montgomery County Education Foundation. Each of the teachers chosen from the three categories also received an additional $200 from the education foundation..

After the presentations, director of schools, Dr. B.J. Worthington joked with the three educators and said Clarksville-Montgomery County schools have had a finalist for the State of Tennessee Teacher of the Year for eight of the last ten years so the pressure was on.
