CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Kirkwood High tight end and defensive end Moses Byrd has been named Clarksville Now Player of the Week following a dominating performance on both sides of the ball against Northwest High School.
The two-way player totaled 3 catches for 140 receiving yards with two touchdowns against the Vikings this past Friday night. Meanwhile, on defense, he tallied eight tackles, two tackles for a loss, one forced fumble and a sack.
Byrd’s performance helped the Cobras start their region schedule 1-0 and push the team’s overall record to 3-0 on the season.

“Moses is a great competitor and has been a huge addition to our football team,” said Kirkwood High head coach Chad Watson. “He played week 2 battling illness and toughed it out for his teammates. Moses is a humble and hardworking young man who is going to be a great asset to a college program.”
“First thing first I want to say thank you to my teammates and coaches,” Byrd told Clarksville Now. “It wouldn’t have been possible without you all. Winning this award has motivated me to keep going and reminded me that the work here still isn’t done. I would also like to thank Coach Watson for giving me opportunities to show what I can do.”
Byrd’s 2024-25 season stats have now compiled up to 4 catches for 165 yards and three touchdowns on offense, while he has accumulated 24 tackles, four tackles for a loss, one sack and two forced fumbles on defense.
Kirkwood football will return to action this Friday at Northeast High School as the Cobras prepare to take on the Eagles.
