CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLE) – The Kiwanis Club of Clarksville came together for their weekly meeting Tuesday and heard an update on the work of the Clarksville-Montgomery County Industrial Development Board from Executive Director Frank Tate.

Tate began by mentioning Clarksville being named the Best Place to Live in America in 2019 by Money Magazine, and said when he meets new people, he describes the community as young, patriotic and full of opportunity.

Tate said the role he plays with the IDB is to foster the growth of jobs and connect businesses with opportunities to succeed. Fostering jobs is accomplished by making sure the connections are made with the right counterparts for success.

“This fiscal year I anticipate we will announce 1,400 new jobs in the community, with 900 already in the month of May by Agero,” said Tate. Over the next four years the IDB plans to add inventory to the community, focus on infrastructure and job creation and educating a new work force.

Talking about business and industrial interest in Clarksville-Montgomery County, Tate said that since July 1, even with COVID-19, there have been 36 site visits. That’s 36 developers with different companies in the community.

Tate added that the IDB closed the last fiscal year out with 29 visits, ahead of the curve. Tennessee has seen an increase of 12 new potential projects for its fiscal year, and Clarksville-Montgomery County is seeing every one of those projects.
