CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Downtown Commons hosted a free live ice sculpting and a screening of The Grinch on Thursday. The event drew visitors to the downtown area for a fun-filled evening.
“This is a free event that we offer each December. It’s been happening for several years at the Downtown Commons,” said Kara Zahn, event planning supervisor with Montgomery County Parks and Recreation.
The ice sculpting demonstration was made possible through a partnership with Burgasm Urban Eats, a local food truck. The food truck’s owner, Joshua Perry, who also teaches ice sculpting at Fort Campbell, brought in his ice-sculpting students and talents and helped get the ice donated to create the Christmas-themed sculpture.
This year, the ice sculptors worked on a Grinch-inspired design. “The theme for this year’s sculpture is a Grinch tree,” Zahn explained. The sculptors spent the evening carving out the design.
Several heaters were set up throughout the event area. Zahn emphasized that this addition made sure everyone could comfortably enjoy the outdoor activities.
