CLARKSVILLE, TN – Big Brothers Big Sisters of Clarksville welcomes the community back again for their annual Bowl for Kids’ Sake fundraiser. With this year’s theme Rock and Bowl, you’re sure to have such a rockin’ good time it’s almost un-bowl-ievable.

This year they are bringing back the Bankers Challenge. Teams of local financial institutions will compete head-to-head to see who can raise the most in donations. This event takes place Thursday, April 20th. All other businesses and community members are welcome to join them Sunday, April 23. To sign up, head to www.bbbsclarksville.org/bowl. If bowling isn’t your thing, no worries! You can support a bowler and donate to the cause through their website!

The community is invited to sign up to help a child rock and reach their dreams by raising money for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Clarksville. Participants can create a team with friends or coworkers or sign up as an individual bowler to be put on a team. Individuals are asked to raise or donate at least $50 and teams of 5 raise at least $250. Donations can be gathered online or in person.

Each team will be assigned a time slot and receive a free T-shirt, an hour on the lanes, door prizes, and more. Businesses can also support Big Brothers Big Sisters by becoming a sponsor. Please contact the office directly at 931-236-3231 or chris@bbbsclarksville.org to inquire about sponsorship.

“Bowl For Kids’ Sake gives the community the opportunity to come together to support youth facing adversity by fundraising for one of our community’s longest-running youth-serving organizations,” said Jenn McMillion, Board President of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Clarksville. “It’s a fun, relaxed atmosphere that emphasizes building relationships and having a good time with friends. At the end of the day, that’s what being a volunteer Big is: getting to know your Little and having a good time with him or her.”

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Clarksville supports youth in our community who face circumstantial adversity. With the support of BBBS staff, our volunteers, also known as Bigs, provide mentorship to Littles in our program. Their mentor is able to provide them with advice based on their own life experiences, a good role model they otherwise may not have, and ignite the potential already within the youth they serve. The funds raised from this event will enable BBBS of Clarksville to continue promoting personal growth for the children in our program.

“People don’t realize how much staff time goes into creating and supporting these mentoring relationships. BBBS staff hand pick one youth to pair with one adult,” McMillion said. “And then staff continues to check in, coach and support the youth, the mentor and the parent to ensure child safety, enriching experiences and open communication.”
