CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – As promised, Hankook Tire is preparing to expand with another 500 jobs in the Clarksville-Montgomery County Industrial Park, and they have released plans for what the expansion will look like.

Officials announced at this week’s Industrial Development Board meeting that Hankook is applying for a state “fast track” grant for their Phase 2 expansion.

With these additional jobs, Hankook will employ about 1,940 people, making them the second-largest private employer in Clarksville next to Trane. The expansion will bring the company’s total investment in Montgomery County to over $1 billion.

That exceeds what was promised when the Hankook plant was first announced in October 2013.

“Hankook’s expansion of 500 new jobs, bringing their total capital investment to over $1 billion, proves the health and vitality of Clarksville’s economy,” Josh Ward, vice president of Industrial Development, told Clarksville Now. “Many thanks to the hardworking individuals who have helped make Hankook Tire a global success.”
