Update, 11:25 a.m.: Law enforcement has reviewed video surveillance footage and hasn’t seen any corroboration of the student’s report, said CMCSS spokesman Anthony Johnson.

School has resumed and will finish the day. CMCSS is sending additional counselors, social workers and support staff to the school for students and employees.

“We understand how terrifying these situations are for families and that some may choose to pick up their child from school. Rossview Elementary families may check students out at the front of the school. Please have your ID ready. We ask for your patience as there could be delays, but we have additional staff ready to assist with check outs,” Johnson said.

At 11:50 a.m., eastbound traffic on Rossview Road was at a standstill near the school.

“We want to reiterate our appreciation for the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and the Clarksville Police Department for their rapid response and bravery to enter the building with no hesitation to keep our students and employees safe.”

Update, 11:05 a.m.: Law enforcement have not found any threats and have given the all clear. The lockdown is being lifted and officers are leaving the scene.

The student had reported to the school administration that they saw a male, dressed all in black, with a gun inside the school. The school administration immediately reported this to the School Resource Officer and additional law enforcement units were dispatched, according to MCSO.

Law enforcement conducted a thorough search of the school and campus. They did not locate any threats nor any corroboration of the report.

Additional law enforcement will remain on campus throughout the day and the investigation will continue.

CMCSS will be sending out information to the parents on dismissal of students. Law enforcement will be present to assist with process.

Update, 10:40 a.m.: No threats have been identified, but law enforcement officers are conducting additional searches of the school, according to MCSO.

Update, 9:55 a.m.: CMCSS said this in an email to Rossview families: “Many families are showing up to the school, and law enforcement has indicated this is creating safety concerns. They are asking that any families who are arriving on scene to please go to Lifepoint Church. Law enforcement representatives will be on scene to provide updates. We will continue to keep families updated.”

Update, 9:45 a.m.: No threats have been identified, and units are still investigating.

Parents arriving on the scene are causing response issues, MCSO said, and they urged parents not to go to the school.

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Law enforcement units are responding to Rossview Elementary after a student reported seeing someone with a gun in the school.

According to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, the school is on lockdown and School Resource Officers are on scene.

No suspects or threats have been identified; however, law enforcement is still investigating the situation to ensure the safety of the students. Units are still on scene and investigating.

Drivers reported seeing dozens of MCSO vehicles rushing toward the school from several directions to respond.

MCSO spokesman Sgt. Bishop Delaney said Rossview High and Middle Schools are on lockout.

MCSO is asking that the public avoid the area of the school while this is being actively investigated.
