CHRISTIAN COUNTY, Ky. – A Fort Campbell man has been arrested after leaving the scene of a crash on I-24.

According to a press release from the Christian County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO), 30-year-old Luke Wallace was doing doughnuts in his Mazda 4-door near the 90 mile marker on I-24 Tuesday around 6 p.m.

Witnesses said he was attempting to run through the center cables. As one witness passed, her vehicle was struck by Wallace’s, causing her to leave the roadway. Wallace then hit the witness again in a second attempt to hit the cable barriers.

Shortly after, the suspect’s vehicle hit the cable barriers for a third time and became tangled in the wires. Wallace then exited his vehicle and got into another one, which was later identified as his wife’s. They left the scene and headed towards Clarksville.

CCSO deputies saw military apparel and Army publications in Wallace’s vehicle and contacted Ft. Campbell and Clarksville Police to check addresses where the suspect might be.

He was located at his home on Samantha Lane in Clarksville and was informed he was wanted for questioning. Wallace and his wife drove to the sheriff’s office to be interviewed and his wife told investigators a similar account told by witnesses at the scene.

Wallace denied any involvement in the incident. He was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident, 2nd degree criminal mischief, and 2nd degree wanton endangerment.

Wallace is being held at the Christian County Jail on a $2,000 cash bond. Approximately 100 feet of cable on I-24 was damaged in the incident.
